Easy bathroom DIY ideas to work on at home

Easy bathroom DIY ideas to work on at home

By Benjamin Clarke | Published on 8th April 2020

The Covid-19 situation has meant that a vast majority of us are stuck at home thinking of things to do.

There is only so much Netflix and Now TV that any person can take before you come to the realisation that something productive needs to be done.

Your bathroom is one of the busiest rooms in your house and is probably taking more of a pounding than normal.

While you've got some time on your hands, now is a good time to get some of those jobs done in your bathroom that you've been meaning to get done for ages.

Put up a shelf

This suggestion is not even recommending you put up a full set of shelves, though that's an excellent job to get done if you need to.

Instead, it's become more and more popular for people to buy a single floating shelf and make use of this in their bathrooms. Many people get these types of shelf from IKEA and then never get around to putting them up.

There's a number of spirit level apps you can get on your phone now to make sure your shelf is straight and there's plenty of videos on YouTube showing you how to put up a shelf.

If you've got a drill, then getting your shelve up on your bathroom wall is a great job you can get done today!

Put up wall hangings

If you are like many people, it's likely you've got something you intended to hang on your bathroom wall that you haven't done yet.

It could be typical bathroom fodder like a mirror, hook or wall cabinet. However, it could very well be a piece of artwork or framed picture that you bought while on holiday as a way to remind you of your travels when you're back at home.

With this type of wall hanging, you usually don't even need a drill. Going old school with a hammer and nail will often suffice, while it's also possible to get some 'damage-free' sticky velcro tabs that do the job without even needing to put holes in the wall.

If you have got something leaning against a wall that was intended for your bathroom walls, pick it up, brush off the dust and get it hung up!

Clear out bathroom clutter

Because you're at home at the moment, now is a great time to look at the contents of your bathroom and see if there's anything in there that you don't need.

Nearly-but-not-quite empty shampoo bottles that haven't been used for years, old and dusty bubble bath liquid, outdated medication. These are just some of the things that can build up in your bathroom when you're too busy to pay them any attention.

If there is a load of old things that can be got rid of, now is an excellent time to streamline and declutter your bathroom. Remember to recycle all relevant plastics when going through this process too!

Clean your whirlpool bath

If you've got one of our luxury whirlpool baths installed at home, then we recommend giving it a good clean once a month. Now is an excellent time to do it, so cleaning your bath should definitely be put on your list of things to do.

If you've been using your bath on a regular basis then it's quite natural that a certain level of dirt will build up from hair, skin, nails, food, drink and anything else that you get up to in your bath!

Fortunately, all of our baths are easy to clean with a little bit of know-how and some non-abrasive cleaner. Once your whirlpool bath has had a good good, you'll find it has a new lease of life, as well as ensuring its smooth running over the long term.
