Spring Cleaning: Tips for Your Bathroom

Spring Cleaning: Tips for Your Bathroom

By Benjamin Clarke | Published on 12th April 2019

The bathroom is one of the most used rooms in your home. As a result, it can also be the quickest to get dirty.

This article will give you some helpful tips for giving your bathroom a good 'spring' clean, no matter what time of year it is.

Toilet

Cleaning the inside of your toilet with a toilet cleaner is fairly simple. Make sure you get under the rim, leave for a few minutes and use a combination of the flush and toilet brush to clean off the bleach.

However, don't forget to wipe down the outside of the toilet bowl and lid, as well as the flush handle.

Toilet Brush

These serve a great purpose for getting rid of those disgusting skid marks down the side of the pan. However, this also means they get dirty very quickly.

Regularly place the toilet brush in the toilet and cover the bristles with bleach. Leave for 30 mins then flush the toilet. This will help keep the brush clean and poo-free!

Shower curtains

Shower curtains take a bit of a pounding and can quickly get mouldy and covered in dirt.

Keep them clean and germ-free by washing them in the washing machine on a regular basis. Double check the label to see if it is machine washable. If not, give it a hand wash in the bath.

Baths

You can actually keep a bath pretty clean just by giving it a rinse with the shower head after each use. This helps to get rid of dead skin cells, hairs and other unsightly dirt without too much effort.

When you do use a cleaner, make sure you don't use something too abrasive so as not to damage the finish.

Taps

Your taps are constantly touched by your dirty hands, splattered with toothpaste and can see a build up of limescale.

Clean then regularly with warm water and a little bit of washing up liquid to keep them gleaming, sparkling and clean.

Shower heads

Limescale can build up over time on shower heads, so the best way to keep them clear and the water flowing freely is to use a descaler and scrub with a toothbrush on a regular basis.

If there are any blocked holes on the shower head, you can use a needle to prock them and keep them clear.

Grouting

Use a bleaching gel and apply it carefully with a toothbrush so that you get all the grouting.

Leave for 30 mins to enable the bleach to sink into the dirt, then rinse with the shower.
